Does your dog do some “interior decorating” while you’re hard at work? Rearranging your trash, perhaps, or maybe etching your woodwork with artfully placed teeth marks? But you can’t quit your job to stay home to supervise your pet, so what are you supposed to do?
It’s difficult in this busy world to find the time to exercise and entertain our dogs properly. But an under-exercised, bored dog can be a disaster waiting to happen.
The good news is that there are many alternatives to entertain and engage our dogs these days. If you are really busy, doggy day care is a great way for our dogs to have a great time while we’re at work or busy in other ways. Your dog can play with other dogs or just hang out with a caring human buddy, maybe even have some training sessions during his day care.
You can entertain & tire your canine companion as well as get some exercise yourself by taking him to obedience classes. Once he has some basic obedience skills, you can participate in agility classes, or rally-O. Great fun!
So don’t come home from a stressful day at work to deal your dogs attempts to re-decorate, contact us at K9FunTime to discuss a playful plan for your pup. After all, a tired dog is a good dog!
So Many Choices! How Do I Choose My Dog’s Food?
The store aisles are filled with brand after brand of dog food. The choices are mind boggling. Sometimes we just settle for the one our neighbors use or the one we saw that cute commercial for the other night. But is that really the best way to pick our puppy pals meals? Not really!
The best way to choose is to read the ingredient list. The first five ingredients are the ones to look at. Since dogs are carnivores, you will want to see meat as the first one or two ingredient But it doesn’t if the next 4 or 5 are grains then that can mean there is more grain in the food than meat. Dogs don’t utilize grains very well, so it’s best to avoid dog foods high in grain content. Very few dry dog food are totally with out grain, so at least try to avoid dog foods with any form of corn, as well as wheat and soy.
The next thing to consider is, are the ingredients identified? Chicken, Chicken meal, Poultry by-products, which is good and are any bad? What does it mean when it says, meat and bone meal, or animal fat? If the maker of the food cannot identify the products clearly, then you may want to avoid that food until you have checked the meaning of those terms.
